Heart-Warming and Thoughtful

by Shelly Stevens

As our family got to be older, we all decided that Christmas was not just for getting gifts that we really do not need. So, our family has decided to put gifts to the side and serve the less fortunate at a shelter in the nearby city.

Now that grandchildren have entered, we have added them in on the volunteer experience and have them hand out hot sauce to the visitors or help the kids carry their trays to the table.

We still go back home to do gifts but the thought of the night is not on the getting but the giving. This has gotten our family into the holiday spirit and gets our minds away from all the gifts.
Happy Holidays!
Shelly
